A Message from the CEO of the T&T Chamber of Industry and Commerce

Vashti Guyadeen

As the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce, we are proud to stand as a partner in the launch of the 2024 Trinidad and Tobago Corporate Governance Code, a pivotal moment for corporate governance in our country.

This new Code represents a progressive step forward, building upon the foundation laid in 2013, and highlights the importance of strong governance practices in promoting transparency, accountability, and sustainability across organizations. The Chamber has been a committed partner since the inception of this project, and we are particularly proud of the collaborative efforts that have brought us to this significant milestone.

The launch of this updated Code provides an invaluable framework for organizations of all sizes to enhance their governance structures, which is essential for fostering sustainable growth (locally and internationally) and ensuring ethical leadership. Our involvement, alongside the Caribbean Corporate Governance Institute and other key stakeholders, reflects our commitment to supporting businesses in Trinidad and Tobago as they strive to adopt and implement these best practices.

We believe that by encouraging organizations to embrace the principles within the Code, we are promoting a culture of transparency and adaptability that will strengthen not only individual businesses but also will enable our businesses to abide my international best practice and standards thereby leading to firm competitiveness.

Together, we are laying the groundwork for a more resilient and accountable corporate landscape in Trinidad and Tobago.

Kudos to CEO Kamla Rampersad – de Silva and the Board of Directors of the CCGI.
